What happens when you combine cutting-edge AI with Hawaii’s high school pride? You get AI-generated mascots that reimagine school spirit in a way never seen before.

This project started as an experiment with my students: Could we bring school mascots to life using AI? The results were beyond anything we expected—photorealistic, animated, and packed with personality. The mascots quickly went viral, leading to a feature on Hawaii News Now and sparking conversations across the state.

But this is bigger than just mascots. AI is transforming how we create, learn, and engage.

Gabriel Yanagihara

Born and raised in Hawaii, Gabriel Yanagihara is an experienced educator with a background in computer science, creative media, and video game design. In addition to teaching and running his own consulting business, Gabriel is an advocate for Professional Development and Community Outreach, and gives Keynotes, AI Trainings, and PD workshops on topics including Esport Sponsorships, Virtual Reality, and Machine Learning AI tools.
